This week's sale of movie garments was eye-opening. Would you pay £24,600 for Tom Baker's Doctor Who garb or £10,200 for the Batman and Robin outfit used by Del Boy and Rodders in that memorable episode?
But what a let down just £260 for Benny Hill's beret.
I do like these auctions, though. It's like window shopping on history
At one movie memorabilia sale I went around and saw the bowler hats worn by Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy and the cane used by Charlie Chaplin.
But the one item I wanted to buy was a signed ticket stub from Harpo Marx.
I loved Harpo ,still do, but this was 1989 and I couldn't afford the £150 asking price back then.
Actually, I couldn't afford it now.
If they sold the props to recent films such as Pierrepoint, about the famous hangman, would it be money for old rope?
