Here's a poem from Alanio.
Atmospheric and a great economy of words.

Granty's showbiz cupboard March16

Posted by Peter Grant on March 17, 2007 9:28 AM

This year I am marking more than 30 years writing about TV, music and the showbiz world.
So, in Scouse Pie Blog, I will be delving back into the celebrity cupboard to share some tales and ancedotes of the stars who came into my life. Those who made an imopact and those who entered and fizzled out.
Peter Grant with Sir Paul McCartney

And so to the Fab One.

Granty's Rant March 16/Purse Strings

Posted by Peter Grant on March 17, 2007 9:20 AM

Purse Strings

In the long supermarket queue last night and there were about five people in front of me.
I did my usual gig of looking in the person in front of me's basket trying to figure out their lives ny waht they had bought.
One woman did fascinate me.
She had cat food and dog food . . . but also a packet of vermin powder.
Why would she need that if she had a cat and dog ?
Anyway she irritated me greatly. Got me ratty, indeed.

REALITY....REALLY?

Posted by Peter Grant on March 9, 2007 12:26 PM

I hate reality TV shows which is a bit of a problem when you are the LIverpool ECHO's Television Editor.

But they have had their day. The recent announcement that there will be a C4 show where ten people live on a rubbish tip shows programme makers are in the dumps when it comes to new ideas.
I was once asked to take part in show where they wanted journalists to appear from all the regional papers. Thinking no doubt we would give them column inches.

Never The Right Time

I met you at the school yard gate
I should have told you
But it was getting late
There was never the right time
Never the right time

Rhyme and Reason : PG's POEM' March 16: Kulture Shock

Posted by Peter Grant on March 9, 2007 12:16 PM

To mark Capital of Culture n 2008 I wrote this. It was about my window cleaner who said one day."I'd love to go to the ballet but it's not for the likes of me. . ."

Kulture Shock

Ssh! Don't tell me mates
But I've just been to see Swan Lake
Saw one of those adverts . .. you know the type

Granty's Rant

Posted by Peter Grant on March 9, 2007 11:38 AM

A colleague has just told me how annoyed he is during Liverpool's BIG DIG that while driving into work on a single road leading to our hallowed office that he is invarably stuck behind a JCB.
"Ban them off the road until after the rush hour, " he rightly says joining my campaign to gice commuters and drivers a fair deal.
I agree because sometimes I have to get a taxi into work from Aigburth to the city center and what used to cost £6 in pre-Flinstones Liverpool days is now anywhere up to £9 thanks to the JCB on its tortoise run.

GRANT'S RANT

Posted by Peter Grant on March 8, 2007 11:33 AM

This morning I saw a poster on a Merseyrail train saying 'It is anti social putting your feet on seats'. It was followed by announcements saying that 'action' will be taken to those who ignore this request.
But as we approach Capital of Culture I am concerned about one other issue featuring blatant bad manners.
When I lived in London I hated the Tube on busy days, but at least people let you get off the train before they barged on
In Liverpool at Central and Moorfields stations some people just can't wait to get on the train pushing past commuters young and old.
As our trains are getting more and more packed can we have announcements that say LET PEOPLE OFF THE TRAIN . . . PLEASE.
We will be Capital of Culture but we don't want to be remembered by visitors for being Capital of Rudeness.

STAR STRUCK

Posted by Peter Grant on March 6, 2007 8:07 AM

This week's sale of movie garments was eye-opening. Would you pay £24,600 for Tom Baker's Doctor Who garb or £10,200 for the Batman and Robin outfit used by Del Boy and Rodders in that memorable episode?
But what a let down just £260 for Benny Hill's beret.

RHYME AND REASON

Posted by Peter Grant on March 5, 2007 12:10 PM

Received a couple of great poems from Blog readers will feature in next issue.

I will finish this entry with one of mine.

But before I do someone did write and asked me why my poetry book is called Deluded?.

Late Muse

Posted by Peter Grant on March 1, 2007 2:09 PM

Why is that people like Oliver Reed, Gazza, Britney, Robbie Williams and all those who visit Re habs are called HELLRAISERS when we mere mortals are called Drunks?
In fact I think I will call myself a self made drink impresario because after too many champers last night I made a right show of myself.
Also received a letter that said on the back of the envelope If undelivered and then an address.
So I sent it back and added to the 'If undelivered' bit then I don’t think much of Royal Mail.

Ching ching.
